The project "uncomfortably" consists of two inseparable parts: 6 towels emitting warmth connected to an electric installation as well as 6 photos representing red-haired persons with wet hair on a bathroom tiles background, standing back to a camera. The photos on the exposition are hanging opposite to the towels. The project "uncomfortably" is a diploma project at the Akademia Sztuk Pieknych in Poznan on the Multimedia Communication department.

"Uncomfortably" text: Kristian Krano

In case of Jacek’s Kolodziejski installation, when we enter the gallery space we also enter the area of beauty. We study a body. Theoretically, but mainly in actions, we can see, but mainly feel, air-heated towels, air warmer than outside air by several degrees. When we come into the centre we first of all become the body. We touch, we receive scents, we feel raised temperature. The experience of the body becomes a sudden impression and maybe unpleasant. We take a look on the wall. Five trunks of figures sketched faultlessly with a straight line, figures of androgonic trunks. The lack of hips is a necessary condition, but is it insufficient? The red colour of hair completes the whole, the same in all showed figures. The intervention is simple yet effective: even the most desperate fighters for a cleanness of sex, fighters for putting barriers between a man’s and a woman’s habitus have to admit that the demarcation line is smooth and blurs just about a common hair colour. It is proper to remind a figure of Androgyne, athough well-known to everyone. Androgyne escapes boundaries between a man's and woman's element, she is an ideal and ultimate human. She is a woman's and man's dream of a partner. She appears in the literature as a transsexual contrast of femme fatale, carrying a destruction, wickedness and death. Androgyne links the oppositions. Apart from this ideal representation appears another, especially in the French literature in which there exists a degradated Androgyne: bisexualist or transvestite. French Androgyne is not perfect, she is a hedonistic masquerade, social experiment. In which direction does Jacek Kołodziejski go? Ideal Androgyne or disguised Androgyne? It is not so true that the installation penetrates the area of transsexualism. It is only a subtle movement, little subversion around the hips, chest and crotch. It is the creation of pretext to find in body, what the stuffy libraries conceal. Finding someone different, because if it is true, that i am someone else, then why someone different should not be a woman (or a man depending on the initial situation).? There is no doubt that the installation involves us in a search of final and ideal shape of ourselves, the shape which our body offers us. There is nothing to say about disguising here. Body is serious, at least as serious as how mind is. It is the best and the most perfect tool we will ever possess.
